In Memphis, Tennessee, 1892 from the pages of her newspaper The Free Speech, journalist Ida B. Wells Launches a blistering and unrelenting crusade against lynching and racial injustice.
A special presentation of scenes from Michon Boston’s play Iola’s Letter: The Memphis Crusade of Ida B. Wells (based on real events) directed by Michi Jones followed by a discussion about the fascinating life of Ida B. Wells and the current state of reporting and social justice journalism in a “post-truth” era. Guest speakers include journalist Jonetta Rose Barras, and investigative reporter Dan Moldea.
